D7000 live view and manual mode
I haven't used live view much on my D7000 but I was experimenting with it the last couple of days in anticipation of doing some macro work. I discovered that, while I can use the subcommand dial to adjust aperture in manual mode while using the viewfinder, as soon as I switch to live view, the subcommand dial quits working; no adjustment of aperture whatsoever. What am I missing?

Yes, that's the way it works. Apparently, Nikon reasons that since they can't physically change the aperture in LV and movie modes, they won't allow you to change the setting. Some of the higher-end Nikon cameras such as the D800 and D4 have an additional mechanism that allows changing the aperture in LV and movie modes, but not the D7000 or D7100.
So, you have to exit LV mode to change the aperture. And yes, it's a pain.
