Nikon D7100 sensor vs. Canon 70D

They are fairly close together with the D7100 having clear advantage in dynamic range - about two stops better at base ISO and still one stop better up to just about 3200.
Even with a higher resolution sensor the D7100 has about a half stop high ISO advantage overall.

In the end, of course, I know it's not the camera, but the operator at the controls...
Still, similar to when I'd choose the best film for color and resolution, sensor capabilities matter, and Nikon manages to contract and tweak products from Sony and Toshiba that seem to push the limits of digital still technology.
The D7000 and D7100 demonstrate a real commitment to still captures and to enthusiastic hobbyists (like me) who appreciate real value in image making ability.

Oh, Bill, please - it's always the camera (at least in my case).
