I just got my D7100 and compared it to my D7000 by taking a photo of a tree 150 feet away with a FX 80mm F1.8 lens with both cameras at ISO 100 F1.8. Processed RAW files and saved in TIFF--difference was unreal--D7100 is way better--much sharper. Since I have used the D7000 mainly to photograph my grandsons sports activities using FX lenses I am very, very pleased!

Now I need to do the same thing with my D800 and compare to the D7100
