I want to photograph birds at my feeder, also humming birds in my flower beds. I want to do this remotely. I have a good tripod and head, wireless as well as cable remote, shooting with D7000. lens: Nikon MF Micro, 105mm from 1990 and Nikon 18-200.

I can get fairly close so I will be within range of my cameera. I was thinking of setting tripod up until the birds get used to it, this won't take long because we all get along well, and equally enjoy my bird friendly back yard and garden. I can manually focus on a flower (cocrosmia) because I know they will be there. But, I don't think they will stay long when the focus flashes from a few feet away. How do I stop this?

Jim
