I've owned both the d3100 and the d5100 and their battery doors were pretty loose. I just got the d7000 and when I put the battery in, the door was pretty tight. It clicks, but I'm concerned that something is wrong with it. Is it the weather sealing that's why it's tight?

I wonder if you are pushing the battery down far enough to engage that little yellow latch. When engaged, the spring tension on the door should be mostly relieved. In fact, when engaged on my camera, the door closes as easily as when there is no battery.
Push the battery down against the spring tension and you should hear and see the latch "click" into place over the top of the battery.
I agree with you, I think its the sealing, there is literally no room for error the specs are right on, if battery is out, it "clicks" are more prevalent and louder, but insert batt, and it just shuts.......tight ass seal...which is good right?
