Recently switched from NX2 to LR5 I am using LR5 solely to "develop" my images. I use IMatch 5 as my DAM. After I have completed developing I export a DNG file with the associated XMP sidecar file. I then remove the image from the LR5 catalog. When I import the (previously exported) DNG into LR5 I have the final edits I had previously made (right hand side of Develop), however the history of what I did previously is not shown.
I can work out the changes made by looking at each item on right side of Develop, but it would be nice to also see in the history.
Is there a way to see the previous history (like we could do in NX2)?
Thank you, now I understand. When one goes to Edit | Catalog settings and goes to the Metadata tab, one has the option "automatically write changes into XMP. When this is selected the xmp is written, but not to a sidecar file. It is written in the DNG.
It looks like this thread is about two separate concepts, final edits (cumulative total) and the history steps telling how the final edits were arrived at. The final edits are stored non-destructively in LR catalog, and optionally in the XMP sidecar / DNG file. The history is stored in LR catalog only, but not in the sidecar / DNG.
When I'm done editing a photo in LR, I erase the history to keep the catalog size down.

I am curious what you use "IMatch" for? what does it do for you that LR does not? I looked at the IMatch web-site and I see some things it might do that LR does not -- but I am curious what I real user uses??
