I'm brand new to this forum and joined because of this problem. I've had my D3100 for 3 yrs and have been happy with it until recently. The autofocus is only working in the GUIDE mode with any of my lenses. If I switch modes I hear it click like it wants to focus but nothing happens. When the button is released it clicks again indicating as if it was locked in position. When I switch back to GUIDE it works fine. I believe I've checked all the settings, but quite frankly, I'm confused. I have never had this problem before. My lenses are AF-S and I have the latest firmware installed. Can someone set me straight?
