I'm going to be doing time lapse photog in remote areas for 12 hour (or longer)shoots.
I want to power my D5100 camera with a small 12 V deepcycle battery - (around 10 to 30 amp hour capacity)
I know the AC adapter from Nikon puts out 9 volts and is used with the EP-5A power connector.
I also know that 12 V DC to 9Volt DC adapters are available to step down the battery voltage for the camera. The camera will work with NIKON EN-EL14 batteries that have a charge of from 7.5 to 9 volts.
The only problem I see is the wiring from the 12v to 9v adapter to the EP-5A power connector.
I cant find a product out there to power My camera directly from a 12V auto battery so I will have to rig it myself.
Does anyone out there know anything about doing this kind of thing for time lapse outdoors?
