Hi, I have been trying to figure out exactly how much getting one of the canon close up lens will help. (They seem more readily available than the Nikon 4T etc) I have teh 18-55 lens (I think 1:3.1 magnification at 28cm) and the 55-200 (1:4.3 mag at 110cm).

I have looked at a number of sites, and get a bit confused on the details. I gather the D250 allows one to focus at 25cm and the D500 at 50 cm (which is of course more than the WD on the shorter lens). Lots of folks seem to like the D500 with a longer zoom, but didn't see how much the 250D helps. And some seem to say it doesn't help much with a shorter focal length. Looking at one site, it doesn't seem to matter what the magnification of the main lens is, which seems counterinruivtive.

I don't see what the resulting magnifivation is for the two lens with the diopters. Could someone point to the answers, or where to find them
1. 18-55 with 250D - magnificaiton?
2. same wtih 500D
3. 55-200 with 250D
4. same with 500D

thanks very much
