It is not listed as Nikon Macro Lens. Nikon macro lens are prime (a fixed focal length) and have a near/far focus switch.
Macro shots are different than close-up. In a macro shot you will see the stamen and pollen of a flower but the bloom. Macro will have a 2:1 or smaller reprocution ratio. In a close-up you will see the entire flower and have a a much smaller reproduction ratio like 1/2:1.
When you adjust the telephoto ring on the 18-55 you will note as you go to the closest view the the lens extends. But if you run it the opposite direction you will note that the lens retracts to a point. Then it will extend again. a short distance. This is the Macro lens setting, at the point it begins to extend again.
