Hi Guys, I've got a D5000 with a Sigma 180 macro and have just purchase a Sigma 1x4 teleconverter which is compatible with that lens. I attached the teleconverter to the lens first, then to the camera body. I locked the aperture at minimum setting, f32, but all I get is a message saying 'lock aperture at minimum setting, largest fstop' ?? I've done this? A friend lent me his Sigma 2x tele and I get the same message. Is the camera not compatible?? Any ideas guys? Cheers, David
Welcome to Nikonians! Sorry to hear of your problem. Are you sure that both the lens is fully seated in the TC and the TC is fully seated in the camera mount? Have you tried moving the aperture ring on the lens back and fouth a few times with the lens and TC mounted on your camera? You could also try cleaning the electrical contacts on the lens, both sides of the TC, and the camera body. Good Luck and Enjoy your Nikons!
Make sure that all of the electrical contacts on the lens and TC are projecting out the same amount. They are spring loaded and can get jammed in. I have not heard of any compatibility issues with the D5000. Does your friend have a D5000? Good Luck and Enjoy your Nikons!
