In downloading 217 picture to aperture I had three black triangle that said file type not supported, or something very similar. Would this be a card error or a camera error? These picture were not all from the same day and they had all worked fine in preview on the camera. I will try reformatting the card in camera but this isn't the first time and I am concerned it is going to happen again. Maybe I should ditch the card. I do delete photos in camera quite often, perhaps that messes with the card? Thanks!
Deleting photos in the camera should not cause problems.
Most likely it is a card problem. Cards can go bad just like hard drives do.
After you have copied off all your files from the card, put the card into a card reader and use the computer to do a deep/full/slow format of the card. This will find and map any bad sectors. Then do a fast format in the camera.

Will do!Inserted the sd into my mac book pro. Get info shows a fat 32 format. Went to Disc Utilities and am in process of doing a 7 pass erase, 37 minutes, then a full format in camera. Thanks hope that clears it up for this card!
I will go check my utilities app again I thought the erase and format was done in the same operation. Forewarned is forearmed. A 7 pass erase was 37 minutes to prepare I am now looking at 4 more hours to complete. Doh!
Didn't find anything for a deep full format, you can shoos the level of security which is number of times a drive is erased then it formats it. I selected MS-DOS (FAT) no differentiation saying fat 16 or 32 there were a couple journaled and extended journaled, I thought this was a safer bet and I know it will format in the D3200.
