I figure the guys who use manual lenses could answer this flash question.

I can't get the pop up wink light on my D90 to fire when I have an old AIs lens mounted. I can get my sunpak ring light to fire in Manual mode when I have my 105mm Kiron/Dine macro lens mounted. But the built in flash will not work with that lens mounted. I have a Nissin flash that is a TTL flash and it will not work on manual as well. Does the camera need to have circuitry in the lens for the flash to fire?

Thanks for any info. I have a Nikon book but I don't think they even consider someone mounting an old Ais lens on the D90.
