First of all, I know the Nikkor 24-70 is an awesome lens. I have had my D700 since last summer and due to budget, purshased a Tamron 28-7 2.8. Here's my question, I need to purchase several other critical components (I don't own an external flash, for example). For anyone that's used both the 24-70 AND the Tamron lens, is the 24-70 an exponentially better lens or moderately so. I'm trying to determine if I should continually save for the 24 - 70 or go for as SB900 and other needs. I know this is comparing apples to oranges, but I'd appreciate feedback from some of you with experience with both lens.

Thanks in advance for any insight.
