Anyone else having problems photographing this colour? I noticed it in a recent sunset pic, the red was a solid colour block, with definite edges all the way round and it was not a gradual tonal change going to oranges and yellows. There were solid bands of these colours.

So... to test it further, I bought a poinsettia, nice this time of year, just coming up to christmas. How hard to photograph it??? I had to underexpose by 4 stops to get any detail in the red leaves and then they just looked a muddy brown

Can someone else try this out for me? A post box or an old UK phone box should be red enough.

And if it isn't my camera that's at fault, how can you reduce the intensity of reds in the camera so it doesn't blow out?
