It took about 12 days from the time I placed my order (one week after requesting) for B&H to issue a credit--but they followed up and did it.
>>I just ordered yesterday, too - found one on eBay for >$2200, >>shipped with the grip. Here's hoping I don't end up using >my >>paypal buyer's protection! > >Wow, this seems too good to be true! What dealer on ebay?
>I saw that Broadway Photo is selling the body for 1,985. >Seems too good to be true but it may be enough to make me take >the plunge!
Be sure to hold your nose before you plunge. Broadway Photo has a 1.18 rating (out of a possible 10) on resellerratings.com. Most of the customer reviews indicate that this is a typical "bait and switch" operation that goes under several other names (A&M Photo World, Regal Camera, Prestige Camera, etc). At the very least, they'll try to high-pressure you into buying overpriced accessories that should come with the camera anyway. Check them out carefully before you give them your credit card number.

Thanks for the warning. It sounds like the old adage "you get what you pay for" may mean a whole lot of aggravation to go along with, ultimately, a cancelled order. I'll do a little more research before committing.
I bought mine through a direct ship from Amazon offer this past week. The item shipped overnight at surface rates and was received in perfect shape. I just didn't want to get involved with service issue many of the camera resellers seem to have. I think tech support is not going to come from any of them, so I just wanted to make sure I had recourse in the event the wrong item was received or if it was received defective or damaged.
>Ordered mine from B&H today for $2379 and free shipping. >If you don't order from a reputable dealer, you will have a >really lousy Christmas. Be careful before you buy! > > > >Lou Korell >http://www.LouKorell.com
Lou, virtually all of the major retailers are selling below $2,400 in honor of the 5D Mark II Canon starting to trickle into supply. I think in a couple of weeks it will be even a couple of hundred less.
I don't want to discourage a trip to B&H, it's the Disneyland for camera buffs, but NYC has a pretty steep sales tax and ground shipping is free. I believe orders from B&H are tax free if delivered outside of NY and NJ.
I found one on Craigslist last week for $2400/w sb900. Met the person 1/2 and paid him cash. He's got a nice website, was very professional, spent about an hour talking/bs'ng with me... No problems so far. I'm pretty happy.
I've purchased quite a few things from craigslist. I think it's nice to be able to meet a person and make a purchase face to face.

Yes, I touch and feel the product, pay for the items and have them ship it (next day delivery) to avoid tax. Going up on Wed. and the packages will be in PA. on Thursday..No tax.
