I use single area auto focus nost of the time, but now I have tested Auto-area af. Can anyone tell if it is possible to see the focus points? Now my viewfinder tells nothing about focus points (single area od dynamic area af shows highlighted the focus point). So itäs hard to know has camera chosen the right spot.

Don't take this as the final answer, but just experimenting here and would be interested if there are other factors:
- In Continuous-servo focus (switch set to "C" at front of camera) AF Auto area isn't showing me the selected focus point.
- If I switch to Single-servo (switch set to "S" at front of camera) it shows the focus points used.
WELCOME to Nikonians by the way!

If you set the camera to AF-C and turn the 51-point 3D tracking system (middle option of the focus mode knob) you can see the initial point (you can move it around) and then when you engage the AF system the tracking begins, and you can see the focus point moving around following your subject.
