How good or bad is the D700 with a D lens?
I am thinking of going from the D300 to the D700. some of my glass is the d type. It may be some time before I convert it all over to full frame. I know the D700 will can shoot with D glass, but how is the quality? Any comments are appreciated.

You can adjust the capture so that you get full frame on the DX lenses, but you will get vignetting and lower image quality outside the DX frame area.
If file size is not an issue, then it is fine. You get the same 1.5 crop that you have on the D300.
In fact, it is better than fine, since you get the lower noise advantage of the D700, plus some additional controls. The info screen, for example, lets you change shooting banks right from the screen.
