I just returned from a trip to Turkey and cannot figure out this problem. Using new Sandisk 16GB CF cards. The first card indicates 1 folder(105....) and 958 raw files. The first number starts with JBK_4798. It then switches to DSC_4799 up to DSC4501. There are then 22 files that run from JBK_4502....JBK_4524. Then I checked the time stamp for my pics. I am missing almost 7 hours of pics in this sequencing. I have files just before, and then files after this time warp. I have gone into my CF cards and see that my folder contains both the DSC and JBK files. At no time did my CF card indicate that it was full. The current size of the files on the card with 958 files is 12.1 GB. At no time did the number sequence go to 9999. And if I had taken 999 pictures on the card, what happens when more are taken? I cannot figure out what happened here. Unless there is something I missed, I know that I lost a grouping of pictures. Not the end of the earth, but annoying none the less. Any help is appreciated. Jon
Check to see if there are 2 or more folders in the DCIM (root folder). If not, after you download the images on the card to your computer, and before adding any more images. Try using Recovery Software like Sandisk Rescue Pro to recover the lost image files.
Marty...used two different 'Rescue' programs and no luck. I even scanned both the root folder as well as the DCIM sub folder. I can't figure this out and have just about given up on finding these files. The first 28 files on the card are in my 105ND700 folder with the custom name JBK_.... Then switches to DSC_ sequencing; then another 21 files for JBK_....; and then basically switches back to DSC_... At JBK_3805 the time stamp is 1:42 PM. JBK_3806 is 7:55 AM the next day. So the sequence remains intact but there are a load of pictures that are nowhere to be found during this time period. Then there are more JBK_..... interspersed in the overall sequence of pics. Then the DSC_ sequence continues at #3991 and goes on thru 4757 on this one card. The 2nd 16GB CF card picks up the number sequence with JBK_4758 for one pic; then switches to DSC_4759 to DSC_5363. No more JBK_ sequences on the 2nd CF card. I actually have two issues: Where are my missing pictures? And why is the file naming changing like it does? Both cards are new SanDisk Extreme 60 MB/s UDMA. Thanks for your feedback. Jon
The reason that I ask is because Rescue Pro has recovered old images that were on the card before it was formatted in the camera. Keep in mind that Rescue Pro re-names the recovered image files. I usually scan the entire card.
In the camera menu do ou have the shutter disabled when there is no card in the camera or is it set to Demo mode?
Thinking outside of the box, if the connection between he camera and the card was intermittent and the camera was in Demo mode the images are more than likely lost.
Did you buy the Cards from a reputable dealer?
There are counterfeit cards being sold on e-bay and at many shady sites and I am sure some stores as well.
If you have done everything in your power to find them and been unsuccessful, I would contact Sandisk. Maybe you could send them the card and see if they can come up with your missing files. Be worth a try. Kim Western burbs of Chicago
