Firmware update for Lens Distortion Control

Re Thom Hogan's post today ..."Nikon released new L1.009 firmware for the D4, D90, D600, D800/D800E, D3100, D3200, D5000, D5100, D5200, D7000, and D7100 DSLR cameras. The "L" firmware is the part that updates a camera's internal tables for distortion control of various lenses..."

i'm not sure but I believe the listed Nikon bodies post-date the D700 and their "internal tables for distortion control" either are different from those in the D700 or, in fact, the D700 may not have such distortion control tables. Which is correct?

In any event, I'm fairly comfortable telying on Lightroom's lens corrections as a starting point so far.
