I just upgraded from the D80 to the D700. Does anyone know why I can't open my RAW images from my D700 in CS2? When I try to open them it tells me it is not the right kind of document.

Unfortunately you will never be able to open the D700 NEFs directly in CS2.
If you upgrade to CS3 (or wait for CS4) then you will be able to.
All is not lost.
You can use the DNG Converter to convert the NEF to a DNG and then open it in CS2.
If you use a PC and want to do this more easily you may be interested in NEF2ACR at my web site. Look under Downloads.
In any case, you'll need version 4.3.1 or later of the DNG Converter.
P.S. - Please don't use the "Message format" checkbox when posting here.
If you do then many people will have trouble reading your message as it will be blue text on a black background.

You can open them in the FREE Nikon View NX or better yet get Nikon Capture NX2. If you use anything else including the DNG conversion, you will be giving up a lot of RAW processing capabilities as NO software other than Nikons lets you make adjustment to the actual camera settings. Also if you use ADR in camera only Nikon SW will let you adjust it after the fact.
