Reading up online doing a basic search, i fear there is no way to meter in live view with either of these camera's in manual mode. In in P,S and A the meter does it thing. But in manual mode you'll have to shoot a trial shot and go from there which is what i have been doing.
Yup. That;s what I gathered. Seems odd??? I was working with the D700 in LV prior to receiving my D800, where I have to work in LV in order to see an actual cropped image at full size" on the screen. The VF only shows you a frame around the cropped area. So I figure I will be using LV a lot more when I do use the crop mode on the 800. I bet it;s the same, but I hope not. Best,. d
Thanks for the tip about dimming the VF. Most of the time I need the brightness to determine focus. I'm hoping that the new battery for the D800 is more long-lasting. Maybe someone who has received their D800 and has worked with LV will comment?
