The DPreview D700 Review page 6, entitled Operations and Controls, includes details on spot metering that are incorrect, assuming the D700 behaves like the D3/D300. According to their manuals, on Page of the D3 manual and page 102 of the D300 manual, spot metering defaults to the center area if "Auto-Area AF" is selected, not "Dynamic-Area AF" as described in this initial review. The same error is in the D3/D300 full reviews as well on page 6.

This is a critical difference for a variety of applications, and particularly for those of us shooting sports, as we want the spot metering to follow the AF sensor selected when we're in Dynamic-Area AF mode to track movement. Fortunately, since I don't use Auto-Area AF, nor any non-CPU lenses, this issue doesn't affect me.
