Firing multiple bodies w/1 camera?
I have a studio project coming up where I would like to mount two D700 bodies on tripods and trigger them with a third body that I will shoot freehand.
No idea how to execute. I will have to rent two of the bodies and 3 remote, wireless triggers. Not sure if the same triggers for flashes work with camera bodies as well.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Interesting problem. I am not sure that triggering the shutter on one body will ever send a signal to the other bodies, but here are some half-brained idead.
• Splice three shutter release cables together with an extra 10' on one leg. That goes to the freehand camera. My thinking is that when you trigger the shutter, maybe the two appropriate pins get shorted out, which would trigger the other two bodies.
• Buy three inexpensive wireless remote shutter releases and set them to the same frequency/channel. Use one transmitter on the freehand body. This should work — but you'll have to trigger the transmitter button, not the camera shutter button.
• Rent three WT-4a transmitters. They could be triggered simultaneously from a laptop running Camera Control Pro. But the freehand body on a dolly with the laptop; compose and reach down to the laptop to trigger the shot.
• Give up. Use one body, three shots…
Funny enough, the cable splice has the best chance of success, though doing the splice will be a royal pain.

It's been a while since I looked at PocketWizard's product line, but their newer MiniTT1 and FlexTT5 can be used to trigger remote flashes as well as remote cameras. This page shows how to set it up as a remote camera trigger.

If you have only 2 cameras look at the MC-23 Connecting Cord This cord was originally designed for Stereoscopy, hence the short length. For 3 cameras get a 10 pin "Y" adapter and another MC-23 cord or an MC-21 Extension.
You could get a pair of PW transceivers and an MC-21 cord. One transceiver triggers one remote camera and that remote camera triggers the other remote with an MC-23 cord. If you need more distance between the remotes then get an MC-21 for the extension. I would look at hot lights or you will need to use the manual mode for the flashes.

Thanks for all the great ideas. I'm off to Calumet's SF rental dept tomorrow to see if they have all the pocket wizard gear I need for the project.
Should be a nominal cost ($10) per unit. I won't need this camera set up again so no need to purchase.
