Does the battery in your D700 "click" securely in the battery compartment when inserted into the D700 (before you close the battery compartment door?
It does not do this in mine, and while everything works fine when I close the battery compartment door, I just wanted to make sure that it was normal for the battery to slide back out of the compartment a bit when the door is open. With my Canon 5D, the battery did click securely into the battery compartment and you had to lift tiny latch to release the battery.

The battery will back out about 9mm upon opening the door when the camera is held in its standard horizontal position. It will stay there. Makes it easier to remove.
The battery has a detent when being inserted, but unlike the Canons, there is no latch. The detent is encountered before the battery is fully inserted.
f/8 and be there?...but I'm moving as fast as I can...I'm up to f/4 already!
