D700 or 70-200 that is the question.

I didn't know where to post this, because it has to do with a d700 and a lens, so I just picked this place.

I've been shooting for about 3 years now with a D90, a couple of normal primes and most recently my 24x70 lives on it.

I've been wanting to move up to full frame, for these main reasons:
cleaner more detailed images ( higher iq ) at all iso's and especially at higher iso's, bigger brighter viewfinder, better shallow DOF, better autofocus etc...

I've also been wanting to get a 70-200 2.8 I think I could use more reach so I don't have to be so close to everything, it seems I could make better portraits with it.

I hate changing lenses. I'm not sure I would care either, to carry both lenses with me all the time. It would either be one or the other mostly.

I can't afford both right now ( the d700 and the lens ).

I am leaning toward the d700 and keeping the 24x70 on it full time, as I do with the D90. I think I will enjoy using a real 24mm instead of the 36mm crop value I am getting now, but I am really worried that being limited to a true 70mm on the long end, when I am already desiring more reach with my cropped 105mm, will be too limiting for me. I know I can consider the 70-300, but I know myself. I would always want the fast glass.

I've been thinking this way for probably 4-6 months now, and the decision has left me paralyzed, and just keeping what I have now ( which isn't too shabby btw ) )

I guess I'm just laying it out there and hoping to hear some wisdom and guidance as to whether I would be happy with d700 and 24x70 full time, or if I would be better served buying the 70-200 and waiting a year for a full frame, or keeping in mind that I hate changing lenses should I just keep what I have and make do.

I know, same old tired questions. sorry. And also sorry it's so rambling to ask this question. that's my ramblign mind I guess.

anyway, thanks for listening.

Peace,
Floyd
