It's a shame that I've never used my D700 and D300 for family photos, because of 2 difficulties: Remote and focus.
With D90/D80/D70...., I have the ML-L3 remote. I setup the tripod/flash, change scene mode to "portrait", then sit with the family and click, click, clike. That's about it.
With D700/D300, I have the MC-30, which is pretty useless in this scenario. I guess I can buy some 3rd party remote or use 10 seconds delay. What about focus? How to lock the focus/exposure before I sit with the family?
What's the "professional" way of doing family photo with D700/D300? TIA.
