Protecting my images for copyright

Help fellow d700 users...Page 343 of the d700 manual say I can add, which i just added- copyright information- Question does this actually prevent others from copying my image(s)? also if net image(s) go on the net is it copyrighted? thanks in advance for any info...Ken

The copyright information added in-camera simply adds the information you enter into the file header of EXIF data. It does not prevent unauthorized use of your images. You must take additional measures to protect your copyrights. Sort of like tattooing the ear of your pet.
To answer your second question the instant you press the shutter the image captured by the camera you are operating is legally yours (barring certain circumstances).
I wish I could further elaborate but I am not an attorney and the policy of Nikonians is to not provide a legal opinion or advice on the topic of copyright and rights use. As you can well imagine this could put us in a liability situation we are not prepared, nor willing, to handle.
