Clearly, a big advantage of DX is its ability to extend telephoto reach because of the 1.5 multiplier factor. Assuming a 200mm FX type lens which on a D700 is obviously 200mm and on a D300 effectively 350mm, if the goal is a 350mm image capture, I can do one of the following:
-shoot with a D300
-shoot with a D700 in DX format
-shoot with a D700 in FX and do a post-process 350mm crop
So, the question: given identical shooting conditions which option would produce the better result? Has anyone tried this? If so, could you share your experience? Appreciate any inputs to help with my decision process. Thanks, Tony
