I find myself out of town in Colorado with only one battery, I was told I could charge the battery from my computer via USB thru the camera. Is this so? I dont want to just plug it and ruin my prized 700.

Thanks ya'll...and Cheryl..I love shopping to! I made it back to Phx with a live battery. I changed my LCD display setting to extend battery life and that helped. Took over 400 images.
FYI.....dont ever ignore a big square in your viewfinder!!! That means that image area is set to DX format...It cuts of like 30 percent of your image. I just shot and briefly at times checked my exposure on my LCD and didnt notice my grossly cropped image. Dang it...Rookie mistake, but I still got some salvageable pictures.
For traveling, I use an iGo power supply for my computer, cell phone, and MP# palyer. It can be powered from the wall outlet, car accessory port, or air plane power port. For the camera batteries and AA/AAA I carry the Delkin dual charger and plates for the EN-EL3 and AA/AAA. It can charger 2 camera batteries at once, up to 4 pair of AA/AAA at once, or a camera battery and up to 2 pair of AA/AAA from the wall outlet or car accessory port.
