Greetings once again from Arctic Canada. I finally received my D700 the other day - I love it. I'm finding the camera/sensor is very sensitive to brightly lit areas. In very contrasty scenes the whites/bright areas are overblown while the darker areas are darker. I did not have this problem with the D300. I'm shooting with the new 24-70mm f/2.8. Any suggestions on what fine tuning I should be doing with the D700? Thank you in advance
My impression is that the D3/700 pushes exposure to the right side of the histogram (ETTR) to maximize detail capture and often this can lead to blown highlights - but it is easily recovered - or compensated for as the prior post mentions.
