Thanks - do find you its big and comfortable enough to use as a good anchor point? Basically, when shooting long lenses, I like to really jam the camera against my eye socket for support! It always looks pretty small in the pictures.
I have always been a fan of Nikon's eyecups for both my Fm3a, FE2 and F100. I added the DK-19 to my D700 and it is the largest of the bunch and is very comfortable. Similar to you I like to jam it right to my eye and I find it is perfect in size and thickness.
PS The last I looked Adorama had them in stock that is where I got mine about a week ago.

+1 but I find it more comfortable pressed hard when using portrait orientation. Using a camera without one now feels really strange to me. It really helps me to get in the zone + with composition, as all I see is black around the frame. You won't regret it.
I expect to order my D700 by February 21 and I think'll I'll need to supplement the eyepiece with a rubber-cup attachment. I'm nearsighted so I wear glasses while I work (but not for reading or any other close events . Will the D-19 work with my glasses?
Yes mine works even when I am wearing my glasses. But I need my glasses more to read so I have the dipoter set and usually flip my glasses out of the way and only use them to read the menues and settings.

Hi... I bought DK-19 for my D700 and fitted using round rubber cap on original eyepiece. It pop'ed out after few hours of use. Not sure if I attach it incorrectly. Can you please tell how to attach it?
The threading is very small(narrow maybe a better term) so it is easy to not get it threaded securly. I would just take your time and thread it slowely until it is tight give it a gentle tug and if it is tight you are good to go.
Should I thread in after removing original round ring on the eye piece? There are 2 rings as eye piece.. one rubber made which is outer one and another is metal which I could not rotate to remove. Will I be able to remove the inner ring to fix the eyecup?
I just picked one up at Paul's Photo in Torrance, CA for $9.99. It is very nice and, since it is round, it works for vertical as well has horizontal pictures. Loving this camera more and more every day. Tom
Do you have to use the DK-17M to install the DK-19? I recently purchased a DK-17M and installed it only to come to the conclusion that I didn't like seeing only 80% of the scene in the viewfinder, so I took it back out. If I want to use the DK-19, will I have to put the DK-17M back in?
