OK, I'm still on the fence.
This past January, I spent considerable time in South Texas photographing Whitetail Deer, with a D2hs and D2x.
Many, actually most, were shot in very low light at ISO's of 400-800. The D2x was absolutely worthless at ISO 800 and marginal at 400. The D2hs was OK at 400, but even at these high ISO's, I was shooting at speeds of 1/15 and 1/30. Sometimes I even tried 1/8th, which was basically a "no chance" attempt.
Here is my question. Will the D700 help in this endeavor? I realize that I will be giving away the DX crop, but I can deal with this if I can only get acceptable images at high ISO's.
Thanks for taking your time to help in this matter. I just have little chance of photographing these lagre bucks in good light. I need to do something and I'm hoping that the D700 is the answer.
