I am an intermediate hobbyist, still learning the D700. I went to a class when early on and the "pro" advised to "just use Auto ISO. I have gotten generally good shots, but I wonder if I am limiting creativity. For example, when shooting outdoors at night, the auto ISO expectedly increases and "night" shots appear too well illuminated. Is this due to the auto ISO? If I disengage auto-ISO, what the best way to gauge which setting to use? Thanks for any feedback.
