hi guys, great forum, lovin the whole vibe here!some questions mainly about the D700..1) i want just ONE lens with this camera for portrait, landscape and street photography and was thinking about the 24-70 2.8 - what do you guys think of that? any suggestions?2) i just ordered a nice setup for a smaller camera, Gitzo 0531 & RRS BH-25 - Will this work with the D700 & 24-70 or should i upgrade my gig to a GT-1541 & BH-40 ???Thanks,Vivek

You can't go wrong with the 24-70 2.8 lens for just about all of the categories you list. The D700 and the 24-70 is an excellent combination. On your question about the tripod set up: what are your future plans in aquiring more lenses? Do anticipate going longer with larger lenses? Plan for the future NAS..

The 0530 is a good tripod, light weight and pretty sturdy for it's size and weight capacity ratio. It is a bit low for me but again, I don't know your height. Personally I would at least look at the 0540 in comparison to the 0530..Enjoy the gear..

Vivek,I agree with the lens...it's a great lens. You may also want to consider the Markins M-10 or Q3 Emile. The pricing is competitive with the RRS...I went the way of the 1541 for more stability and flexability.Either way..they're all wonderful investments.Bill
