This month’s theme is “Back Roads” – Traveling on back roads provides great opportunities for photography. Images for this challenge should come from your own back-road adventures and include the road itself as an integral part of the composition. Participating in our monthly contests can help us to become better photographers. We can see and learn from all of the entries as our members showcase their best work each month.
These monthly contests are the preliminary rounds for the Annual Best of Nikonians contest where you have the opportunity to win attractive prizes and have your images highlighted in the Winners Galleries and published in the eZine The top images will be selected by the winner of the previous months challenge and will be included in a poll for members to vote for the winning photo. Please keep in mind that images will be selected based on image quality, subject matter, relevance to the theme, and creativity just to name a few. The winning image will be added to the Monthly Challenge Winner’s Gallery for the Travel Forum. The winner will be recognized in our weekly newsletter and will receive a printable Certificate of Photographic Achievement.
I look forward to seeing how you fulfill this challenge! Good luck!!!

One of the many barns throughout Shawano County in northern Wisconsin displaying quilt designs on 8'x8' pieces of wood. The quilt on this barn (built in 1908) is called "School Days" and includes a traditional little red schoolhouse in the center.

Just south or Monterey CA is Point Lobos State Reserve. The land mass it contains juts out into the Pacific ocean and the shores contain the underwater reserve, and many coves and rocky shores that have walking trails. This is Gibson Beach as it is just down the shore from China Cove. As I overlooked the beach, my eye was drawn to Mike and Sara's declaration of love. I don't know who Mike and Sara are but I wish them well. Shot with D700 and 35-70 f/2.8 zoom at 35mm. f/11, ISO220, 1/200 hand held. EDIT 7/12/14 reprocessed in PSCS6 extended using Picture Postcard Workflow.

This shot was taken just off of I5 in California near Williams in late afternoon. D700 with 16 mm Fisheye, f/16, ISO 220, 1/200. Processed in Capture NX2.Edit 7/12/14 reedited the original NEF using Picture Post Card workflow in CS6 Extended but wound up blending that result with a NIK filter and the original NEF edit in CNX2 for this result.
