Starting to plan next years trip. We're planning on doing Greece and the Greek Islands but it seems like going to Istanbul would be a great add on.
We're looking for an adventurous way to get to Athens. From everything I have read, any international train service between the two cities has ended and from what I could learn bus service leaves Istanbul at 6PM and although it seems to run along the Aegean Sea, it will be at night most of the way.
Has anyone done this lately? Any thoughts, ideas, or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

My wife and I went on a cruise which started in Istanbul, went along the west coast of Turkey, visited a number of Greek Islands and ended in Athens. While this type of route may not be what you want, I can say that a visit to Istanbul is well worth the effort. It is a fabulous city in my view.
Enjoy your trip.
