Prints have started to show a very fine (one nozzle?) magenta line across the line of print. This happens after a nozzle check and clean, and alignment. The magenta line is not on every pass but on enough to be noticeable. I am using Archive Heavy Weight Matt and have just changed the colour cartridge for a new one. The lines do not show up if I print on economy, they do if I print on anything above this. I have tried varying fine quality and high speed, unticking both on some occasions but all show the same fine magenta lines. As the quality goes up so do the number of magenta lines (to be expected I suppose!).
The nozzles don't appear to be blocked, unless extra lines are how blocked nozzles manifest themselves. I have printed out about 8 squares, and cleaned the nozzles several times. The lines cleared but black blobs were left behind. I then printed out a couple of pictures on Heavy Weight Matte and the lines returned. I have included a couple of pictures for all to see http://groups.msn.com/APMembersGallery/gloc.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=12088 and http://groups.msn.com/APMembersGallery/gloc.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=12089
Can anyone explain why this might be happening.

Since the lines are darker than the image area they cover, they look don't look like drop-outs from blocked nozzles. It looks like the printhead is misfiring. It's likely time to contact Epson. Depending on what they say a head replacement costs, you could also consider picking up a refurbished 1270. I bought a backup 1270 from refurbdepot.com, Epson refurbs come with a one year warranty.

Contacted Epson and they have said that there is likely to be problem with the head not sealing properly with the cartridge.
They recommended contacting 2 companies, one repairs and the other spares to see about fixing the problem. The repair company wanted approx £60 to carry out the repairs (3-5 days) and approx £70 for the head. The other company wanted £65 for the head but they provide no fitting instructions for the head itself.
Anyone know how to fit a head, or get instructions on how to, if I order one from the second company?

I'd be dead sure your nozzles are in fact clean.
Two or three cleaning cycles can't hurt. Id also
check clearances, and lastly check for roller
cleaniness and wear.
