Garbage Disposal sound from my Epson 2200
...sorry. It was just the ink cartridges draining.
I cannot BELIEVE how fast I am going through ink. I tried the matte paper, then the semi-gloss paper, then I ran out of what they sent me, so I started using some older Epson matte paper.
Fairly cheap quality paper, but it gave me something to play with.
Light magenta and light cyan have gone down the fastest for me, followed by yellow.
I did not have a lot of paper (WHY did I buy a new photo printer with NO EPSON PAPER?) so I used some of what I had. I used some Kodak, but it had little white stripes in it. The printer seems pretty picky about having Epson only paper.

Actually, the ink carts on mine are lasting for a lot of prints. I'm going through light black, light cyan and light magenta fastest and have replaced two cartridges so far.
The thing to keep in mind is that on my 1270 six color printer, I'd be throwing away all the colors in the 5-color cartridge when one runs out. I think the economy will be at least as good, probably better for the 2200 because of the individual carts. It looks like some of the "full strength" colors will last three times as long as the some of the light colors. You may go through different colors more or less quickly depending on your images and print settings.
