new R800...what do I need to get started?
I been waiting to get into the world of photo printing, and I'm about ready to go with the Epson R800. I haven't done any printing myself yet, so what do I need to know to get off on the right foot? I need to get a USB cable, but is there anything else I should have at the beginning like a second set of ink? As far as trying papers to see which ones I like best, where do you recommend buying Epson paper and what should I start off with? Premium luster, semigloss, gloss, and matte I've heard are good papers. Any other recommedations to try out? As I'm new to printing and have a bit to learn, I appreciate the advice. Thanks a bunch!

I sounds like you are set as far as hardware and media. But have you considered proper technique? This link Luminous Landscape will get you started on the right foot. Always use these settings and you will get wonderful prints. As you become more adept you can start to really delve into color management and your prints will improve even more. I think your choice of papers are fine, just remember to use the appropriate ICC profiles for each type of paper (mentioned in the link).
