I have an Epson R1900 and 3880 and really like Red River Polar Pearl Metallic. When I print, I use the Red River ICC profiles and set the paper type to Photo Paper Glossy, as suggested by Red River.
The 3880 prints spectacular images on RR-PPM but the R1900 does not. When I use the RR ICC Profile for this paper the blues, particularly skies, tend toward gray. I actually get better results if I just use the Epson Photo Paper Glossy profile for this printer, although not near as nice as the 3880's output.
Has anyone else had this problem? Has anyone created a custom profile for the R1900 for this paper?
I have not had the problem you describe but I do use the exact same paper (Red River Metallic) with my R2880 and the icc profile from Red River with the setting at Glossy. Prints come out looking superb. I know it's pretty fundamental but could it be your 1900 is still controlling the color ? Could you have missed a setting change in your printer ?
I printed a couple of images on this paper last night on my 3880 - just superb. I used to send my images to Mpix for printing and often selected the metallic paper Mpix offered. So finding a top quality paper with a metallic finish was great. Thanks for bringing this paper to my attention Mick.
