3880 printing light grid on matte photos
i am using the matte ink for the first time to try some black and white on the advanced black and white setting. i am getting what looke like a perfect grid of tiny boxes on the entire photo.
i am using 60lb red river matte and the ultra premium presentation matte media setting.
i have platen on auto and tried sheet and rear feeder with the same results.
gloss paper and luster print fine.
not sure what to do.

i tried many different thinckness matte paper , all with the same results.so i tried a head alignment thinking that the black matte head had to be aligned. the test printing was perfect.
the common denominator to the photos i tried to print in black and white had a liberal amount of grain applied in silver efex for a retro look.
well further investigating is leading me to believe that the printer does not know how to print the grain . every area that has the grain applied has a very light grid that shows through like a pixel box but it does that contigiously .
did another test print in black and white with no grain applied and no issues.
strange but i now am pretty sure that is just what is happening.

the black and white photo is he one it happens to, the pattern is the same as the 2nd photo only in black and white.
i am not sure why or what i my have to do to stop it when needed.
the checkerboarding is not visible on screen. it looks like the 2nd photo i found on line but in black and white .
100% crop on screen shows the lots of grain and noise applied in silver efex. but upon printing the checkerboard appears through the entire image.
