My aging HP 932c is making more frequent unpleasant noises and it will only accept photo paper one sheet at a time. It is on its third (fourth, maybe) computer (as defined by motherboard as i build them myself) and Costco has stopped carrying my ink cartridges. I've already dug the grave.
Clearly, I need a new printer and would like suggestions. I haven't room or money for one of the big Epsons with 9 ink colors. I would like a printer:
1. as reliable as this old HP (may not be possible, today)
2. that can produce acceptable photo prints (not Epson quality but OK)
3. with some way to monitor the ink level in the cartridges.
Two people have suggested the Epson workforce 7010 and the canon Pyxma. The 7010 comes with a new ink system called CISS that replaces the proprietary ink system and also allows use of pigment colors.

If you were after photo quality printer, I might have a suggestion or two as would others here.
But what you want is a less expensive printer -- not sure many of us have much experience there, and I am guessing there may not be as much to choose -- but I don't really know.
