I'm having a problem with my Epson 1400. It will not print an image centered, even though I have ticked off all of the settings to have it do so.
A few facts: 1. I have two Macs, one is an iMac, one is a Mac Book. The iMac has the latest driver available from Epson, v6.10. For reasons I don't know, my Mac Book uses a driver version 8.67.
2. When I print from the iMac the image will not center. When I print from the Mac Book the image prints just fine, in any configuration I set.
3. The problem occurs on the iMac whether I'm printing from Photoshop or Capture NX.
4. The print dialog box shows a mini preview of how the image will appear, once you've made all of your print selections. On the iMac, there is always a noticeable line and margin on the left hand side. To me, this indicates that there will be an offset. Even if I try to adjust for the offset by moving my margin, that line and margin won't go away in the preview, and the image prints off centered.
5. Epson customer service is beyond horrible.
Any thoughts for a solution? I have tried to uninstall/reinstall the driver. No luck. I've searched for the Epson v8.67 driver for the 1400. No luck. I'm a bit at wit's end.
Thanks for your response. I got so excited that it might be the OS, but alas no luck. I'm running 10.6.8 on both Macs. I even ran a check for software updates to see if that would help but no.
Here is a screenshot of the print dialog box. You may have to look at a large version but you can see that black line on the left of the preview, with a small white margin. If I were to proceed with a print it would print off center.
Thank you for trying to help!

What size paper are you trying to print on? The example you provide shows and image size of 5.71 x 7.136, which is a little unorthodox. If you are trying to print on 5x7 sheets at full bleed this might be the problem. If you are printing on sheets larger than the image size make sure you have checked to center the image on the page in the Epson printer driver. Simply selecting this in the Photoshop print command does not always work. Can you provide us with screenshots of all the settings in the printer driver?

Thanks for helping me solve this problem. You are correct that the image size is odd, particularly since I crop to exactly 5x7. Nonetheless, if I scale down the image size in this dialog box I end up with the same problem. And I am not printing at full bleed, but I do have it set to print on a 5x7 paper.
I will provide the screenshots of all settings when I get home tonight.
As far as I'm concerned, you both are Da Bom for trying to help me solve my problem. It's so great to converse with people who are willing to help and making reasonable suggestions. I get the sense that Epson customer service people have never used a photo printer!
I have tried ticking off Scale to Fit Media. I'll post more screenshots tonight.
As promised, here are more screenshots. But let me cut to the chase--something finally clicked and everything is working correctly.
As I sat down to capture screenshots of the problem and more of the print settings, I began running through the dialog box and getting images.
Here's my first, clearly showing that the problem still exists. I also captured the crop dimensions in PS so that you can see that although I was cropping to 7x5 the image was hitting the print interface at a differing aspect ratio. You can see the line on the left hand side, which almost looks like a bounding box line, but I haven't checked bounding box.
Then I went into my settings and captured this screenshot. Problem is still there.
Then I clicked out of the print settings and clicked back in, and here is what I got. '
Problem gone! And you can see that the crop is the correct size and aspect ratio.
I have no idea what happened but I'm not complaining. I think it must have just been a weird software issue that finally gave way. The problem appeared suddenly and out of nowhere, so maybe it's not so odd that it disappeared after all my random fiddling.
And thank you both so very much for your help. Your prompting to walk through certain steps is what solved the problem.
Great observations, Elcee. I never print with the printer managing colors, always use PS color management.
I'm going to have to run a few more tests and burn through more ink over the weekend. Hopefully the problem is solved. I love being able to print but between clogged print heads and software issues, it's hard to maintain the beast.
