There could be a myriad of reasons why this is happening. The first thing is we need to know is as much about your software, hardware (printer model), and printer settings as possible. The other thing you will find is that the majority of people here use either Epson or Canon printers and know less about the HP drivers, so possibly providing us with screen shots of the HP printer driver settings would also help tremendously.

As stated by the others, we need as much info as possible.
I use a HP printer, and there is one possibility I can think of off hand.
My HP printer has a special Photo tray that can accept 4x6 tabbed paper. If that is the case, then that tab is outside the printable area and would be left blank. That tab is about a half inch or 14 mm.
Again I don't know what HP printer you are using, so it's hard to say if this is your issue. Mine is a Photosmart 8250.

A picture of a suspect print and the original image might also be helpful. Are the images cropped to 4 X 6 or 3.75 X 5.75? Resizing and cropping are different animals. Has the 'missing' edge removed some of the image or is the full image still being printed?
