Hello all,

I have just managed to compile my family's entire photo collection going back the last 70 years, around 3000 photos. Half of these are in the form of both prints and negatives. I'm going to scan all of them for posterity.

In your experience, which would yield higher quality results, in both sharpness and color accuracy ? Scanning the negatives or the prints ?

Based on your advice, I will buy a suitable photo/film scanner. What would the ideal scan resolution be for this task ?

Thank you

Viren

PS - I am also in the process of picking up an old mechanical Nikon SLR. The scanner would come in handy here too.
