Well, I live in Austria / Europe and what I would like to see available through the pro shop are for example the Singh-Ray line of filters. No official distributor here in Europe to my knowledge, and the shipping costs plus the import taxes are not cheap.
Btw, I have asked them once to contact you, but obviously to no avail so far...
Good luck with the findings here, I am sure we will hear many more suggestions.
Here's another vote for stocking Singh-Ray filters (in particular, ND Grads in "Cokin P" size). They are difficult to get hold of in the UK, where I'm based. Singh-Ray will sell them, but the shipping cost is very high.
Actually you can order them from Galen Rowell's company, www.mountainlight.com, that is where I got them and they charge correct shipment cost to EU, Hungary and I got them without the need of paying customs despite doing everything officially. They have excellent customer service, I can only recommend them. Of course having a choice to get them directly from EU would make things easier.
To add something useful for the conversation, I would like to see more choice of Nikonians marchandise, like camo t-shirt with simple Nikonians logo.
Well I posted this in the "Cafe" and it was said to have been put on some list but I have seen and further developments...
I would like to see a new Nikonian T-Shirt with the upside-down DOF chart on the front and the "You might be a Nikonian if..." list on the back with number one of the items on the list being: "If you have an upside-down DOF chart on the front of your t-shirt".
BTW, I live in the U.S. of A.
Nikkor? Didn't he fight Godzilla in the 2nd movie?
I agree with the post by Hansvg (#17). I was directed to that French Nikon Shop by one of our fellow Nikonians, and liked what I saw. I was going to make the same recommendation, and our friend beat me to it.
Bo, I would vote for the LEE filter system. At least here in the Netherlands it is hard to find and quality wise it's excellent, so I have heard.
Another item would be the Uniross Globetrotter Pocket battery charger: probably the smallest and lightest 4xAA or 4xAAA charger around. It charges my '2300' AA's <4 hrs. That's not slow nor fast, but the charger is extremely small and portable. Have a look here.
Maybe the next one is a bit late in time, but for those that still use film, a film retriever. Also very small and it could be printed with the Nikonians logo, I guess. I had lost mine for almost 2 years. A couple of weeks it suddenly re-appeared in my camera bag (!) and i'm happy, as it's still useful.

I would love a zipper front, black thermal fleece jacket with the simple Nikonians orange logo either on the chest or upper sleeve. An embroidered Nikon camera body on the back over the yoke would really add snazz.

Thanks for asking us Bo Once or Twice I thought of writing to you or JRP about 'things we want' .... so I'm really glad that this came up!
I'm with the majority! and I want to see filters first, and this is how I want them.....
Adapter Rings : - Cokin, in all sizes
Filter Holders : - Cokin, 'P' & 'Z Pro'
Filters : ND & ND/Grey Graduate (Z Pro & P ) - Hitech (Should be easy for you to get down ...??) - Sing Ray - Lee
Memory Cards : I can see Transcend 4GB CF cards going for $85 in US. But that particular merchant does not ship internationally! So if you can get a tested 'alternative' brand like that everybody will benefit!
Back Packs : tamrac brand is not easy to find everywhere. specially larger sizes
'Used items': Pro Shop may be too young to attempt something like this: But with an ever growing membership you might be able to start something like KEH. You can ask 'sellers' to use a very conservative grading criterion controlled by the 'pro shop' to grade their items and ask them to send it to pro shop for sale. Inspection can be done from your end and then the payments can be made!!
.....OK I may be asking for the moon Just get us Hitech Z Pro size filters and I will jump at it!
How about Nikonians shirts in kid's sizes? I have two daughters who are already into photography and Nikon. I recently gave my CoolPix 7900 to my six year old, and she's doing great with it. Wonder when she's going to get her own D200! (said when you can lift it...)
You can't start them too young!

I would like to see sunwashed t-shirts. Also, I like the idea of simple logo shirts which would have just the name, or the name along with a camera body like on the hats would be good as long as the camera body logo isn't too big.
Maybe even some specific clothing such as D200 hats/shirts with the Nikonians logo. But I'm not sure if you can use the name of the camera legally. If so, that would be neat.
Sweaters would be nice.
More selections of hats. Different logos, some with just the site name, some with the present logo and camera, etc. Also, different colors of hats. Khaki would be a good color.
I would imagine that a nice microfiber cloth with the Nikonians logs would be popular, and this would also be a relatively inexpensive item I would imagine.
(Wishful Thinking) Under Armour clothing with the Nikonians logo. (OK, I'll stop dreaming now)
Maybe some vinyl type stickers for the cars and trucks.we drive. Be nice to see a fellow Nikonian on the road somewhere. Just the word with no camera image on it, no need to advertise too much I guess.
I forgot about that. But I have a small one of those (not from NIkonians) which was probably made by the same company, and wasn't too impressed with it. A good quality one that is not attached to anything would be real nice.
I think that you ought to consider stocking ... well ... basically all of the things that get recommended time and time again in the discussions. You guys know as well as I do the regular things that come up and they DO come up VERY often. Become a "one stop shop" of all the things people chat about on the forums so that the discussions lead people towards stuff that they can get from the pro shop.
"A selection" of Manfrotto and Gitzo tripods.
A European source for Alien Bees.
Lowepro + Tamrac bags.
Sensor cleaning kits.
The "more popular" lenses (well, popular recommendations from Nikonians anyway) such as Sigma's 150mm macro and 10-20 DC, Nikon's 50 / 85 mm primes and 105mm micro, their 70-200VR and their 18-200 (yeah right!), Tokina's 12-24 ... the "common calls" that people make when recommending lenses.
We thought of that, but knowing that Nikon meters are calibrated for 12% gray not 18%, we imagine this could confuse many members and would create complaints. So we decided on black, instead of having to attach a letter with a "please adjust your exposure reading by half an f-stop", as if it were defective.
Ideally any product with the Nikonians logo opposed to just the "Nikon" logo.
Nonetheless shirts, short sleeved.
We in Canada call them golf shirts, also known as polo shirts. Ideally with a collar and perhaps a front pocket with the Nikonians logo;
A far more roomy comfortable cut than what one would find in a cotton based "T" shirt, albeit more expensive as well.
Mind I tend to be really big, height and weight (6'9"/350 pounds) so most similar wear usually sets me back C$60-C$80 per shirt; I would expect pricing from Nikonians shop to be no less. And yes the big and tall shops here usually have something in stock, most of the time.
Then too going out on a limb, purchased a Gore-Tex 3/4 length jacket two years ago. No symbolism on it, however it would be nice to have a small Nikonians logo on same.
Nothing big, something small to indicate our allegience to the list and the gear.
Photography should be pleasure for one's self. however such pleasure no longer exists hence all kit has now been sold.
