Is anyone interested in visiting Avery Island, Louisiana? It's the home of Tabasco, and there is a pond with many nesting snowy egrets. Lots of natural areas for walking, and shots of old live oak trees, moss, many plants. Some wildlife, such as alligators, numerous bird species. Late March, or any time in April would be a good time. I am wondering if others would be interested in a day-trip, or a couple of days in the area? I'm only about 2 hours north of Avery Island.

If anyone is traveling across south Louisiana, on Interstate 10, Avery Island is not far off the highway, south of Lafayette, La. Here are a couple of links for more info:

Tabaso web site - Avery Island info page:

An old web site, with poor photos, but you can see the nesting piers in the last photo:

There's lots going on in the area during the spring, with festivals, Jazz Fest (New Orleans) in late April, and this one in Lafayette April 25-29, 2007:

There's ALWAYS lots of places to eat good food!
