Just a short post to keep you all informed as to the recent state by state get togethers of local Nikonians in Queensland, NSW, Victoria and Western Australia.

As a group of Nikon users and photography enthusiasts, we are attempting to get a group organized to represent the broader area of Oceania which includes Australia. This initiative arose from a number of posts in the Nikonian forums about the possibility of getting something together.

Contact was made with those who lived near each capital city via email and a number of postings via the forums.

There has been varying success at each location, but enough interest to warrant continuing towards creating some smaller constituent state groups as part of an Australian chapter. We continue to lobby the Nikonians for our own forum but we need sufficient forum activity for this to be justified.

After Xmas we will be raising our profile again to see if we can garner sufficient activity to be recognized in our own right. We are planning a photo competition on "what it means to be an Aussie whether at home or abroad" to coincide with our Australia Day in January 2013 so put your thinking caps on and get clicking.

Contact representatives are:

Graeme Kemlo Vic (ozscribe)
Dean Butler Qld (Grunion)
Kim Stewart WA (PhotoByKim)
Robert Cranna NSW (robcran)

Please reply to this forum post so we can get in contact with you if you want to be part of the action.
