Taken over lunch break D700, tripod, 50mm f/1.4 @ f/6.3,ISO 320, 1/8s. PP'd in ViewNX2 Found it hard to get motivated to shoot yesterday.Always run into the same trouble. Terrible light, no way to get the angle I want.The horses were a little on edge yesterday too, sometimes flinching at the sound of the shutter. They must have felt the storm front moving in.So I just did a few still life studies.
I'm repeating myself, but ... I'm waiting patiently for the coffee table book that I'm hoping you will one day do about farm life. You have an intriguing perspective that is reflected in your wonderful compositions. And, you have access to scenes that most of us will never see ... and, you see them in ways we would not, even if standing beside you.
Your 50 mm F/1.4 lens serves you well in this environment.

Hmmmm Looks like we will get to see exactly HOW patient Hal is.. Don't hold your breath on that book, or your next self portrait will have a decidely blue skin tone I appreciate your comments and faith in me Hal. I truely do!
